Bold Change for Kids
Philadelphia ranks the poorest of the nation’s large cities, putting youth at risk for academic, social and health issues. At Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia, we believe that every child that walks through our doors is entitled to achieve his or her dreams. Our job is to help these children overcome obstacles, access opportunities, and find their potential. The obstacles are great: extreme poverty, food insecurity, violent crime and substance abuse are pervasive in our kids’ neighborhoods. Despite the desperation that exists in the lives of our youth, we are able to offer hope and opportunity to thousands of them. However, the conditions of our facilities severely limit the number of youth we are able to serve and impact the quality of our programming. Several of our Clubs are over a century old and lack the infrastructure needed to facilitate 21st century learning. The creation of a new environment, which connects youth to the world and encourages personal development, will broaden their horizons of opportunities available for college, career and family. We urge you to join us in Going Bold for Philadelphia’s youth and helping to end the cycle of poverty in Philadelphia neighborhoods.
